Knight's Axe- Mid Fourteenth
Century
Includes leather covers for both
the blade and spike (History Lives)
Knight's Axe - The axes used by Knights
had to be functional in both combat and in-camp usage (i.e.. chopping,
clearing camp, etc.). The head of this axe was a typical style of
the mid 14th century.
The large beak spike was added as armor became
harder to penetrate. Most typical round spikes would penetrate but
would break off when you would try to pry it out. This beak style
spike was narrow and flat to allow penetration but was tall enough to allow
strength that would allow the knight to pry it back out quickly once he
banished his foe.
This axe features a high polished axe head and
3" spike with hardwood handle. There is a special handle design which
prevents the axe head from sliding down the handle or flying off the handle
(Unlike the competition).
We also include a leather cover for both the
blade and spike so you can safely transport it at your Local Renaissance
Faire (check the faire policies concerning weapons).
