Practical Stage Combat Rapiers
(Blunt Tips)
These pracitcal rapiers utilize the popular and
typical "S" hilt guards. They feature the SCA-approved schlager blades
in both 37" and 43" lengths.
These tapered blades provide a superior balance
compared to the traditional parallel-sided schlagers, making for a faster
sword.

Damascus Steel Godfred Viking
Sword
Folded steel blade.
Named for the feared 8th century Viking raider,
our "Godfred" sword is built around a beautifully patterned folded steel
blade to replicate the pre-9th century originals. The interwoven
leather grip, complemented by a Damascus guard and pommel, is matched by
the leather-covered wood scabbard with bronze detaling and integral belt
hooks. Superbly balanced, due to the deeply fullered distal-tapered
profile, the "Godfred" is a true tribute to the legendary Norse smiths.

Lowlander Scottish Two-Handed
Great Sword
Wielded with untamed ferocity on many a Gaelic
battlefield, the massive Lowlander sword vividly illustrates the might
of the Scots of old. Known as “Slaughter-Swords” in the 16th century, these
were the swords of choice for Scottish mercenaries of the period, and at
close to six feet long the Lowlander (SH2065) faithfully replicates a surviving
museum piece. Though by far the largest sword ever offered by CAS/Hanwei,
the Lowlander is beautifully proportioned and balanced. The typically Scottish
quatrefoils in the ring guards attest to the heritage of this imposing
piece. A wall mount is provided to allow the transplanted Gael to display
his sword with pride.

Torino Italian Renaissance
Rapier & Main Gauche
2204-GT Based on models of 17 th century
swept-hilt rapiers of Italian ancestry and combining the better features
of several pieces, our Torino Rapier (SH2204) with matching main gauche
(SH2207) is sure to become the standard by which all others are measured.
The blades are made of forged high-carbon steel and are equipped with black
leather scabbards. The guard has an ornate design with straight quillons
to protect the hand and for wrapping the fingers around to increase functionality
and one’s grip strength. This rapier and the matching main gauche blade
produced from CAS/Hanwei are now interchangeable with the “Practical” blades
(SH2255, SH2256), which are designed for safety in rapier sparring.

Bone Handle Renaissance Rapier
Swept Hilt Rapiers trace their origins to early
17th century Europe, where swordplay with the Rapier was considered an
essential part of a gentleman's education and was often used in resolving
gentlemanly disagreements. Blades typically originated in Toledo or Solingen
and would be hilted by regional smiths, resulting in many hilt styles.
The 1092-GT has a high-carbon steel blade and a very attractive solid steel
(not plated) basket with a genuine bone grip. A rigid leather-covered scabbard
is included.

Mortuary Hilt Sword
Replicated from an original in the collection
of the Royal Armouries in England, this Mortuary Hilt sword is a classic
example of a cavalry or dragoon officer's sword of the 17th Century English
Civil War period. Deriving its name from the style of sword which memorialized
King Charles I, who was executed in 1649, the Mortuary Hilt sword's steel
basket is decorated with scrolled foliage, while an engraved head of Charles
I appears on the pommel. The lozenge-section double-edged blade is partially
fullered and bears the swordmaker's mark "1414", the derivation of which
has been lost in time. The leather handle wrap terminates in silver wire
"Turks Head" knots. This sword, like the original, is beautifully balanced.

Edward III Sword
Edward III of England was a warrior king who
is remembered in history for his dramatic victory against the French at
Crecy in 1346. His sword, far from being a purely ceremonial piece, was
made to be wielded in battle. The sword has survived the centuries in remarkably
good condition and is replicated here in great detail. The style is typical
of a 14th Century battle sword, but the fittings are undoubtedly those
of a king, from the heavy gilding to the adder-skin grip to the beautifully
enameled coat of arms, the latter illustrating Edward's claim to French
territories by combining the Lion of England with the Fleur-de-Lys of France.
The flattened diamond-section blade bears the emblem of the Order of the
Garter, badge of the Knights of St. George, founded by Edward. The significance
of the portcullis mark has been lost in time. This well balanced sword
may be wielded single-handed or hand-and-a-half style and would (and perhaps
did) give an excellent accounting of itself on the field of battle.

King Albrecht II Hand and
a Half Sword
Replicated from a sword thought to be that of
Albrecht II of Austria, the Hand-and-a-Half Sword (SH2034) represents the
pinnacle of beauty and balance in medieval swords. Classically simple in
design with a flattened diamond-section blade and cruciform hilt, the original
dates from the early part of the 15th century. The “Lion Rampant” emblem
of the Habsburg dynasty is engraved in the pommel, while the Passau “Running
Wolf” guild mark and a marigold maker’s mark appear on the blade fuller.
Both the grip and the scabbard are leather covered over a cord wrap.

Sir William Marshall Sword
This sword is based on an original used by one
of England's finest knights, Sir William Marshall, who served the crown
faithfully under Henry II, Richard the Lionheart, and Jack Lackland. The
Marshall sword is available with either a forged high-carbon steel blade,
(Model 2000-GT) or a forged and folded Swedish powder steel blade (Model
2001-GT). Both blades are identical in handling characteristics and both
are tempered to a tough HRC 52. The blade section features a central ridged
fuller and full-length distal taper--a tough test for the bladesmith, but
resulting in a superb combination of speed and strength. The grip is leather
wrapped and laced and the guard and pommel are elegant in their functional
simplicity. The scabbard is leather-covered with steel mounts. Truly a
sword for the connoisseur.

Basket Hilted Scottish Broadsword
Authentic replica of an actual Museum Piece
Although Basket-Hilt swords appeared throughout
Britain from the mid-Sixteenth Century on, their association with the Seventeenth
and Eighteenth Century Scottish highlander has become legendary. Early
highland swords almost invariably carried the double-edged broadsword blade,
but by the time of the Battle of Culloden in 1746 the single-edged backsword
was at least equal in popularity. Both the Basket-Hilt backsword and broadsword
are replicated from period pieces in the collection of the Royal Armouries
in England.
KEY FEATURES:
This Basket-Hilt Broadsword carries a typical
Glasgow-style
hilt from the mid-Eighteenth Century. It also has a wire-wrapped ray
skin handle and cloth-covered leather basket liner. It is likely that the
blade of the original sword was made in Germany a century earlier and re-hilted
as basket designs were refined.
Both the 2002 and 2003-GT have wire-wrapped
ray
skin handles and cloth-covered leather basket liners.

Scottish Basket Hilted Backword
Authentic replica of an actual Museum Piece
The Basket-Hilt backsword (2003-GT) dates from
about 1760 and has an unusual basket with twin engraved “horned beastie”
plaques and a blade with twin fullers running most of its length. The original
blade is German in origin but the blade and hilt are contemporary. Early
highland swords almost invariably carried the double-edged broadsword blade,
but by the time of the Battle of Culloden (1746) the single-edged backsword
was at least equal in popularity. Although the blade of the original bears
the “Andrea Ferara” name, it is unlikely that it was made by this renowned
Spanish swordsmith, as many good quality blades of the period were so marked
(in various spellings!), irrespective of the actual maker. The forged blade
of our sword is in fully tempered high-carbon steel with a solid steel
basket.
KEY FEATURES:
This Basket-Hilt backsword dates from about 1760

Oliver Cromwell Sword
SH1049 -- Cromwell Sword (Partner Exclusive)
Oliver Cromwell (1599 – 1658) was a powerful
figure in English history during and after the English Civil War, when
he rose from the rank of Captain of Horse to Lord Protector of England.
His sword, said to have been carried at the battle of Drogheda in 1649,
has been remarkably well preserved and features in the collection of the
Royal Armouries in Leeds, England, where it is displayed in the permanent
collection. Our Cromwell Sword is an accurate replica of the original “mortuary”
hilt style and features a blackened guard decorated in a gold foliage pattern
with a wire-wound sharkskin grip. As the original sword now lacks a scabbard
, we have provided a design typical of the period. This piece of English
history is a must for the ECW collector and re-enactor.
